Description Josef El-Rayes 2003-11-15 20:20:19 UTC

i did an xml/xslt rework of the publications page which i put
   online at http://www.daemon.li/freebsd/publish.tar.gz, images are
   located at http://www.daemon.li/gifs/

publish.xsl is the style sheet which gets data from books_en.xml and
   books_de.xml via publish.xml.
i use this way of getting data from the .xml files so the page can
be easily expanded for example with local books for lets say
   japanese.

just another entry at publish.xml and a file similar to books_en.xml
   or books_de.xml

i have not finished adding books, i will add them when i got response
   from the publishers.

(freebsd: an opensource operating system for your personal computer,
    embedded freebsd cookbook,
    the complete freebsd
    freebsd: the complete reference)

What about the other content which is currently on publish.html, do you
also plan to add that?

i will add all the books and magazines that are not
too outdated. i can also add _everything_ that has been
published but i do not think that makes sense. i just
wanted to wait until it gets commited, so i know what i
should change about code and content, before i add
many books which would make xml fixes more work.

for some of the books i have not received the publisher's
approval for using their book cover's images, so i haven't
added these books. like grog's book or bsdmall's
"fbsd: an opensource of for your pc".

i will also try to find and add local (not english or german)
books and magazines, but this is not a trivial task so i
would like to ask other's to have a look about what books
are locally available, for example danish books for you,
or french books for blackend :)
would be very nice if someone helps me out at this task.

greets, josef

If you're talking about xanne's book, then we already have permission
for that - the images are in the repo after she provided me with them a
couple of years or so back (before I got my commit bit anyway).

ups, i oversaw this one. i will add this, and the missing bit
after someone had a look at my work (or even commited it), so
I know it is okay and correct.
