/usr/local/etc/rc.d/rtc.sh don't load rtc.ko.
kldstat don't show rtc.ko.

Fix: 

Rename /usr/local/etc/rc.d/rtc.sh to usr/local/etc/rc.d/001.rtc.sh
How-To-Repeat: Install linux_base-7.1_7 , vmware3-3.2.1.2242_8,1 and rtc-2004.02.24.1_4.
Then reboot and have a look to the boot messages.

Hm, on 4.10 the naming of the script shouldn't matter. 
Was the script initially chmod a+x (it should have been)? 
What happens if you run the script as root "by hand"?
