After fresh cvsup of ports tree, portupgrading linux-flashplugin7 to latest breaks flash on linux-opera

Specifically, flashplayer.xpt & libflashplayer.so do not get placed in /usr/X11R6/share/linux-opera/plugins/

Fix:

The workaround I did was to simply copy required files to /usr/X11R6/share/linux-opera/plugins/
How-To-Repeat: Cvsup ports tree to latest
Attempt to portupgrade linux-flashplugin7 to latest

Hi FreeBSD-gnats-submit!

As a follow-up to this problem.

The work-around I found for linux-flashplugin7 does *NOT* work when flash on linux-opera breaks after portupgrading linux-flashplugin-6.0r79_3.

Copying the files to /usr/X11R6/share/linux-opera/plugins/ does not re-enable flash functionality after breakage by portupgrading to latest in ports.

Regards,

Stacey

Have you tried to update lastest linux-opera yet? I have fixed it a few days
ago in linux-opera. You should have linux-opera-8.01.20050615_2.

Mezz

Portupgrading linux-opera to latest in ports tree did *NOT* resolve the fact that linux-flashplugin-6.0r79_3 is now broken after latest updates.

BTW, the test that I'm running is going to http://www.macromedia.com which has a flash animation routine on its homepage that was viewable before portupgrading linux-flashplugin on that box recently.

If there is anything else I can test, please let me know.

Regards,

Stacey

I am confusing, I thought you said linux-flashplugin7? This is
linux-flashplugin6. I have no idea how well linux-flashplugin6 works, but
I would recommend to use linux-flashplugin7 instead that I am using it
everyday. It does work.

Works fine with linux-flashplugin7.

One more thing, can you run 'linux-opera -debugplugin' with
linux-flashplugin6 and show me the output of it? Thanks.

Fair enough. When I originally noticed the problem, it actually *was* concerning a machine running linux-flashplugin7. However there are a few boxes here with version 6 installed, one of which relates to my subsequent post about the fact that the work-around I found for linux-flashplugin7 doesn't work for version 6.

I will remove version 6, and install version 7.

Thanks for the time.

Stacey
