after upgrading to 6.0-R recently I am having trouble with VMWare2. First problem: it doesn't compile. Well, after some research on the web and borrowing from VMWare3 patches fbsd6-1.patch and fbsd6-2.patch I came up with the attached diffs that made it compile. Second problem: it won't run. The error message is "Unable to fix standard file descriptors."
fixed by this patch, please commit if you would: -----------------------------------snip-------------------------------- begin 644 pr90399.tar.gz M'XL(`)Y\H$,``^U7^W/:1A#.K^BO6+NNBP-"+Q"@Q!Y3("E)`!<<>_H:C2P= M046OZD'B<?C?NW?B89Z9M'5F.J-O&$G<[MWM[GV[=S>ZBRRU9-FCT;,G@RB* M:KD,](W8?(NR6I%!$I5R1:THDBB!*"FBI#X#\>E,6B&)8B-$4T+?CP_I?1P3 MXAR0;SKW/T''L\@G#;K&A(QLAW#G_Q[<H#D$.I@&@A_$@F=.(R'PPS@2B)LX M1NR'D3!U/QHAD87%Q,4I%Y(XM,G4]CY`B*_(]CV02FJ9H^P$/@$^I']7MO(\ MO_R3DZKP)O%`%L4*R+)6J6MB#7BZ%CDV2*%06"E7H47,N:ZH*56MHJ:ZW.4E M\%)%*JI0H*\Z7%YR4+)'</+0']ZT!\-.OS>#BW.HB*(DUCG(G3PT&]<SE+_J MO&L/6YW!#)W3X_N`1/JX%!BQ.8;/D#<M5+D=O!T.FC,X/04F.(,+$"PR%;S$ M<4"^.)5P,N*APUQAUZ0J(Q=7V#7IB&7R5\]7F,^WQQ&/Q+SO.?>%1>S^@4<< M1"1&)N""1AHW9UQDAG:`E`A"PML>)J'C?'/R[;!A+P^K:S2LPF.[*1%WC)63 M*M`(PI1GDJ@AU:05)ZN,DKNZ/6:GI"DU35QG)[(2R5F4%$9.QP,^2F,>Q_=3 M`Q?%L;WDDXXM,]HD25M*=]M*\D)I2[+5(G*\._%\:UW`%AS-!IGCS;&+8E55 MMU6X0N@"/]HA@%0@F+Z+5!*8F%G,6(A,Q83X#8Y/EBEQ#+P3PW&:%,?PQPN( MQ\3#["#FV(=F2(R8+B(S#,TE*#EL=R%WT/"1S<$>&U@U**]L@`T;4A=2*V!N MQ3Y'T1BI7$<#;KJ]]K6D=SN]_F#&/4W]IZD2/:X=3S#'%_9_W/BKB_U?+E=5 MW/_+BB)E^_^WP+RHA<A0U_=8J1=&(2%(",$*[2D)2V8)BY-Z2($5P"\-D+LE M%BML4*5E3:YJ8IT5.58'#_3.78\3Z/E3P"U>4C6EHE7*:4=6#M5RL8;U$%]5 M5@]S)4LW'3\B<)Y[A4/].&SI+3:4WJ3-Q53%]LW8V5;IT.:Y2N`[.S2NL+7( M\53!,UPZ2ZM]TVFV]5ZCVYX+7.-/;&^B0.\VWO0'6%EVJG/P'7$B6A*$Y^`' MQ(/GPN9\?6PNIAJI6]LJ<[]H..1:!>-0D&ME/,+0<""]8]L$VXMQ'S8=8GA) MH&.12QR2G_JV=<;!`\<#,`W<^J:&<RZ^X+`!V,,B41SZ][0.YMDBT:\S5/@. Hello, I hope this info might be of use. I just tried to install vmware3 to a newly formatted 6.1-RELEASE box, and I got the exact same message ("Unable to fix standard file descriptors.") But, when I tried to install it on a 6.1-STABLE box recently upgraded from FreeBSD 4.3 (with all disk partitions still in UFS1 instead of UFS2) the message didn't appear. So, I'm inclined to think that the problem might be linked to the version of UFS. More tests are needed, of course.
