Flash not working on FreeBSD-6_Stable with linux-opera-8.52.20060201 & linux-flashplugin-7.0r63 Sites that normally display flash animations now no longer work - works on Fedora Core4, Ubuntu, etc Attempted to fix by reinstalling linux-opera-8.52.20060201, then linux-flashplugin-7.0r63, but this does not fix the problem. Fix: Don't know. How-To-Repeat: Install latest linux-opera Install latest linux-flashplugin-7.0r63 Visit site(s) with flash animation pages
Hmmm, not sure what's going on here. -- I assume this happened after upgrading to flash 7.0r63 ? I can confirm that linux-opera and linux-flashplugin7 work ok for me, on: 6.1-PRERELEASE FreeBSD 6.1-PRERELEASE #0: Tue Mar 14 19:46:20 GMT 2006 2 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Mar 15 17:55 linux-flashplugin-7.0r63 2 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Feb 22 06:58 linux-opera-8.52.20060201 I didn't need to reinstall opera either. Are other plugins working? Can you paste your output from running with 'debug plugin' set ? i.e. linux-opera -debugplugin cheers, jamie

Sure.., the following output is that whilst hitting those flash-enabled sites I normally visit: $ linux-opera -debugplugin opera: [plugin probing] /usr/X11R6/share/linux-opera/plugins/libnpp.so opera: [plugin probing] /usr/X11R6/share/linux-opera/plugins/libflashplayer.so opera: [plugin probing] /usr/X11R6/lib/linux-flashplugin7/libflashplayer.so opera: [plugin path ] #001: /usr/X11R6/share/linux-opera/plugins opera: [plugin path ] #002: /usr/X11R6/lib/linux-flashplugin7 opera: Search operamotifwrapper: [No] /usr/X11R6/share/linux-opera/plugins/operamotifwrapper opera: Search operamotifwrapper: [No] /usr/X11R6/share/linux-opera/plugins/operamotifwrapper-1 opera: Search operamotifwrapper: [No] /usr/X11R6/share/linux-opera/plugins/operamotifwrapper-2 opera: Search operamotifwrapper: [Ok] /usr/X11R6/share/linux-opera/plugins/operamotifwrapper-3 Let me know if there's anything else I can provide, please.., Regards, Stacey

Sorry, there is nothing that I can help you. Your debug is showing that there is no problem. The linux-opera and linux-flashplugin7 work fine by default here. All I can think of is to delete all linux stuff and reinstall them. Also, you might want to try to poke in the Opera perferences. Hi Stacey, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. As already mentioned in the bug followup, your plugin debug log is fine. As you know, the problem with these binary distributions is that it's a bit hard to do anything if things stop working. The file-list for the 7.0r63 port is identical to the one for the previous 7.0r61 port - there have simply been updates to the flashplayer.xpt and libflashplayer.so files. Now this is where it gets interesting, I had an email from someone else who was running 6.0-RELEASE-p6 and had the same problem on updating to 7.0r63 with linux firefox... He said he updated all his ports, and FreeBSD to RELENG-6 (which is currently 6.1-PRERELEASE, and it's working again.) I track RELENG-6 too, and I bet Jeremy is running that one (or newer) too! So, assuming that all your other linux related ports are uptodate, particularly: @pkgdep linux_base-rh-9 @pkgdep linux-expat-1.95.7 @pkgdep linux-fontconfig-2.2.3_2 @pkgdep linux-XFree86-libs-4.3.99.902_7 @pkgdep linux-aspell-0.50.4.1_1 @pkgdep linux-openmotif-2.2.4_2 , then I can only guess that 'something' has been upgraded/fixed in the linux emulation layer that would otherwise cause problems with 7.0r63 Without being sure, what I would do next is first check the above depenencies are uptodate, in case the problem lies there. IF they are, I'd suggest a CVSUP to RELENG_6, or if that's too problematic, maybe consider regressing to 7.0r61 - I have the ports-tree tarball for the old port if you need it... But be aware there is a security problem with it: http://secunia.com/advisories/19218/ http://www.vuxml.org/freebsd/83421018-b3ef-11da-a32d-000c6ec775d9.html Sorry I'm unable to be less vague - I hope something in the above helps. Upgrading is not an option at this time, I'm afraid. I can get by without this anyway., as flash+(linux)opera+FreeBSD has never really been stable, I've actually got machines I can use if I need to run browser checks as and when required. I'll not be cvsup'ing this machine just to chase a possible fix for something like flash, so I'd recommend that this PR be closed.
