Description David Southwell 2008-07-17 10:30:04 UTC
Just upgraded from Freebsd 6.3 to 7.0

  uname -a
  FreeBSD dns1.vizion2000.net 7.0-STABLE FreeBSD 7.0-STABLE #0: Wed Jul 16
  09:27:38 PDT 2008     root@dns1.vizion2000.net:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC
  amd64
  Have the following entry in

  /var/log/essages:

Jul 17 01:28:46 dns1 kernel: dragon_saver: the console does not support
  M_VGA_CG320
  Jul 17 01:28:46 dns1 kernel: module_register_init: MOD_LOAD (dragon_saver,
  0xffffffffadf7a140, 0) error 19

This appears to be a regression error.
System just upgraded from 6.3

How-To-Repeat: Shown after boot

To submitter: could you give the output of:
vidcontrol -i adapter < /dev/ttyv1
vidcontrol -i mode < /dev/ttyv1

Also, is there any chance you could reboot back into the 6.3 kernel in single
user mode and run the above again? You should be able to do this by breaking
to the loader prompt and entering:
unload
boot /boot/kernel.old/kernel -s

assumong /boot/kernel.old/kernel is still your 6.3 kernel.

Also, could you please confirm that this did work with FreeBSD 6.3?

Outpu from vidcontrol commands:
[root@dns1 ~]# vidcontrol -i adapter < /dev/ttyv1
fb0:
    vga0, type:VGA (5), flags:0x7007f
    initial mode:24, current mode:24, BIOS mode:3
    frame buffer window:0xffffffff800b8000, buffer size:0x8000
    window size:0x8000, origin:0x0
display start address (0, 0), scan line width:80
    reserved:0x0
[root@dns1 ~]# vidcontrol -i mode < /dev/ttyv1
mode# flags type size font window linear buffer
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 24 (0x018) 0x00000001 T 80x25 8x16 0xb8000 32k 32k 0x00000000 32k

I will try to get to the old kernel as soon as possible but it may nopt be for
a few hours

Some requested feedback was received. I'm still not sure that the
screensavers are expected to work on amd64.
