Description Austin English 2010-06-04 04:00:16 UTC
Tested with FreeBSD 8.0, PC-BSD 8, as well as FreeBSD 8.1 beta. Hardware is an HP Pavilion dv2000 laptop. When I put in the BSD DVD to install, I get the cd loader, and up to the line '/boot/kernel/kernel text=0x8d9548'. The computer sits there for a minute or two, before rebooting itself.

I found, however, that if I hit escape in bios and explicitly choose to boot from the CD/DVD drive, the install will work just fine.

Fix:

Explicitly choosing to boot from cd/dvd.
How-To-Repeat: Burn FreeBSD iso, put in drive and turn it on :-).

Is this still an issue with any current RELEASE or pre-release version of FreeBSD?
