I'm trying to install FreeBSD9 (64bit) on a HP Proliant server (ProLiant DL385 G1). Installation is done via remote-management ("iLO") basically by mounting the Installation-ISO. However a couple of seconds after booting the box crashes. Here's what I tried already: o) Re-download the installation ISO - same checksum - same result o) Instead of booting directly I issued the following two commands on the loader prompt: set kern.eventtimer.periodic=1 set kern.eventtimer.timer="LAPIC" followed by "boot" Neither of these helped. To cross-check I tried booting of a FreeBSD 8 installation media - no problems at all (besides that the machine is running FreeBSD8 currently without problems) I've uploaded screenshots of the aborting install-session under http://www.jenisch.at/FreeBSD-9-install-fails-on-HP-proliant/FreeBSD-9-crash-while-installing-on-HP-DL385-G1-screenshot-01.jpg http://www.jenisch.at/FreeBSD-9-install-fails-on-HP-proliant/FreeBSD-9-crash-while-installing-on-HP-DL385-G1-screenshot-02.jpg http://www.jenisch.at/FreeBSD-9-install-fails-on-HP-proliant/FreeBSD-9-crash-while-installing-on-HP-DL385-G1-screenshot-03.jpg http://www.jenisch.at/FreeBSD-9-install-fails-on-HP-proliant/FreeBSD-9-crash-while-installing-on-HP-DL385-G1-screenshot-04.jpg http://www.jenisch.at/FreeBSD-9-install-fails-on-HP-proliant/FreeBSD-9-crash-while-installing-on-HP-DL385-G1-screenshot-05.jpg http://www.jenisch.at/FreeBSD-9-install-fails-on-HP-proliant/FreeBSD-9-crash-while-installing-on-HP-DL385-G1-screenshot-06.jpg http://www.jenisch.at/FreeBSD-9-install-fails-on-HP-proliant/FreeBSD-9-crash-while-installing-on-HP-DL385-G1-screenshot-07.jpg http://www.jenisch.at/FreeBSD-9-install-fails-on-HP-proliant/FreeBSD-9-crash-while-installing-on-HP-DL385-G1-screenshot-08.jpg http://www.jenisch.at/FreeBSD-9-install-fails-on-HP-proliant/FreeBSD-9-crash-while-installing-on-HP-DL385-G1-screenshot-09.jpg http://www.jenisch.at/FreeBSD-9-install-fails-on-HP-proliant/FreeBSD-9-crash-while-installing-on-HP-DL385-G1-screenshot-10.jpg showing the different stages. In the end the box goes south completely so that the only way to get it back to life again is a full power cycle :-(. Thanks in advance for any clue, -ewald How-To-Repeat: 100% reproducible

Unfortunately this PR was never addressed before these versions of FreeBSD went out of support. Sorry. If this is still a problem, please open a new PR. Thanks.
