Description robert.ayrapetyan 2014-07-05 06:54:01 UTC
Thunar FM occasionally freezes when "View->Side Pane->Tree" is selected.
Changing it to "View->Side Pane->Shortcuts" resolves the problem.

The issue is similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunar/+bug/1233904?comments=all, which was classified as duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/1231978 which in turn was resolved by updating gvfs to ver. 1.18.2 (the latest version of gvfs package in FreeBSD is 1.12.3).

Unfortunately, we (the Xfce team) can't resolve this issue, because it depends of devel/gvfs.

Furthermore, upgrade of gvfs (in 1.18.x branch) is not currently possible, due to version of devel/glib20 (2.36.3) In this branch GLib must be at least 2.37.0 [1].

pkgconf --modversion glib-2.0
2.36.3

devel/gvfs is currently at 1.24.2 and devel/glib20 at 2.44.1. Based on your descriptiob both versions are now higher than required.

So: does the problem still stands or can this PR be closed (as fixed)?

Please close it, I can't reproduce it anymore.

Close this bug, even some users (primarily Linux users) reported that Thunar sometimes crashes with GLib 2.44.x.

Personally I use Thunar with GLib 2.46 and I observed no crash (also with GLib 2.44).
