Description RickR 2014-12-05 18:11:48 UTC
New AsRock Z97 Extreme6 Motherboard and a SamSung 840 512GB SSD on SATA. Can boot FreeBSD UEFI from CDROM, but after the install process, the UEFI Firmware can not see the SATA UEFI boot partition. Tried wiping the SSD in multiple ways to ensure the SSD was pristine for the install. I was able to boot the sytem using the CD-ROM as the EFI source and pointing at the SSD for the rest of the loader process. I was also not successful in creating MemStick image for booting UEFI as a possible alternative. Same issue.

The same MemStick DOES BOOT UEFI on a Zotac motherboard that runs another FreeBSD system in the home.

Please explain what steps you would like me to take in order to deliver debugs/dumps of the process for debugging.

As an alternative, I am going to open a case up with ASRock concerning their UEFI firmware.

Thanks,
-Rick

There's been lots of changes in this area, are you still seeing this issue now?

Steve, ASRock released a patch to their bios version that cleared things up. now running 10.2 w/ uEFI boot.
