After zpool upgrade, grub reports Compression Algorithm 143 is not supported Press any key to continue. The system still boots. % zpool get version tank NAME PROPERTY VALUE SOURCE tank version - default
I also see this behaviour on PC-BSD: 10.1-RELEASE-p20 #0: Fri Apr 10 17:24:22 UTC 2015 root@amd64-builder.pcbsd.org:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64 The message "143 is not supported" appears several time righ after entering mirror passwords. Followed by "press any key", after a delay the text-mode grub menu appears and counts down normally. The "143" message appears once more along with the "press any key" after a delay the kernel actually boots and system starts normally. There was no need to press any keys, and doing so did not appear to make any difference to boot time. # zpool upgrade meer This system supports ZFS pool feature flags. Pool 'meer' already has all supported features enabled. # zpool get version NAME PROPERTY VALUE SOURCE meer version - default So it looks like the pool is up to date, I also ran the restamp-grub command but the messages still appear.
So, this is to be expected right now. The grub version we are using is from their git repo, and as of right now it does *not* support some of the newer ZFS flags. There has been some work in the past few weeks to get those features merged into GRUB and once they do it should fix these issues. I plan on updating the port once those bits land in GRUB.
I'm not booting with grub any more. Has this been fixed?
Yes, GRUB has been updated to support the newer compression.
