I'm not sure this actually is possible to do but it would be a really nice addition if the serial of a harddrive could be presented in the output of mptutil show drives just like mfiutil show drives does it. [root@sys ~]# mptutil show drives mpt0 Physical Drives: 0 ( 137G) FAILED <SEAGATE ST3146356SS HS09> SAS bus 0 id 1 1 ( 137G) ONLINE <SEAGATE ST3146356SS HS09> SAS bus 0 id 8 [root@hub-se ~]# mfiutil show drives mfi0 Physical Drives: 0 ( 932G) ONLINE <Hitachi HUA72101 A74A serial=GTF000PAJ9XSKF> SATA E1:S0 1 ( 932G) ONLINE <Hitachi HUA72101 A74A serial=GTF000PAJ9TBAF> SATA E1:S1 2 ( 932G) ONLINE <Hitachi HUA72101 A74A serial=GTF000PAJ9P31F> SATA E1:S2 3 ( 932G) ONLINE <Hitachi HUA72101 A74A serial=GTF000PAJ9XY1F> SATA E1:S3 4 ( 932G) ONLINE <Hitachi HUA72101 A74A serial=GTF000PAJA64TF> SATA E1:S4 5 ( 932G) ONLINE <Hitachi HUA72101 A74A serial=GTF000PAJ7AJ2F> SATA E1:S5 6 ( 932G) ONLINE <Hitachi HUA72101 A74A serial=GTF000PAJ7WU6F> SATA E1:S6 7 ( 932G) ONLINE <Hitachi HUA72101 A74A serial=GTF000PAJ9P35F> SATA E1:S7 It would help drive replacement alot as you know which drive to replace.
Feature request.
If someone could provide me with how to compile mptutil and where the source is I might be able to hack this myself and provide a patch as i have quite a few servers using mptutil
