The version conflict set in this port requires the port to be reconfigured every time certain dependencies are upgraded. This must be by design and I accept it ensures robustness in the final installed system.

However, it must generate an awful lot of work by creating a problem when there probably isn't one. It provides robustness at the cost of convenience. Life's never straightforward.
