Description Conrad Meyer freebsd_committer 2018-08-16 21:42:37 UTC
Please update to the latest 1.1.x, which includes functionality absent from 1.1.0h.
Comment 1 Bernard Spil freebsd_committer 2018-08-17 10:09:29 UTC
Hi Conrad,

The port's name has become a bit of a misnomer. This is a release version that I'm sure some people use in the wild. I don't think it's wise to actually update it to a non-release version at this moment.

Once OpenSSL 1.1.1 reaches release, I intend to update the -devel port to 1.1.1 as indicated in https://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-ports/2018-March/112899.html

I am running bulk builds on the ports tree with both -devel and -master (you can get the latest version from https://github.com/Sp1l/ports) to check for breakage.

Additionally, work is being done to see if we can update OpenSSL in base to 1.1.1.

Hope that helps. Keeping this in "Open" unless you wish to close it. Will refer to it once the port gets updated.

Cheers, Bernard.
Comment 2 Conrad Meyer freebsd_committer 2018-08-17 16:24:12 UTC
Thanks, that makes sense. Would it be possible to rename the existing port to openssl110 (that seems to be what it is?) and have a new openssl-devel (or openssl111-devel to avoid name conflict?) that tracks ongoing openssl work?

Thanks!

Hi Conrad,

Awaiting responses on the mailing-list https://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-ports/2018-August/114105.html

Don't want to kick other people in the shins :D Assume 1.1.1 will be available in some way in ports soon. Did you check if the openssl-master port from my private WIP repo is usable for you?

Cheers, Bernard.

Thanks, Bernard! I haven't had a chance to try your WIP port yet.

Conrad, Bernard, is this not just a duplicate of PR228192? Or is there something different here I am missing?

Thanks,
Rod

I don't see how this is related to gnome-calculator.

228192 reads "math/gnome-calculator: update 3.26.0 -> 3.28.1" for me :/

Tried to find it but failing... Hope you have the number somewhere?

Comment 9 Conrad Meyer freebsd_committer 2018-08-22 18:58:32 UTC
One bug is for base, the other is for the port. I don't know if we actually plan to try and ship 1.1.1 in base for 12.0, or just 1.1.0. If the latter, that doesn't help this bug. (And even if we actually ship 1.1.1 for 12.0, we still need a port version of 1.1.1.)

So I don't think they're duplicates, exactly. I don't feel strongly one way or the other about tracking everything in the other PR. If you and Bernard want to do that, we can do that.

I see the difference now, and I'll leave it up to Bernard, since he is the one tracking and doing the sub bugs.

Requested some guidance from portmgr on the renaming. Hang in there folks!
