Description leeb 2018-09-23 21:59:25 UTC
Using bsdinstall(8) I made a new system but did not configure the network.
After booting into the system, local mail was not working and I was unable to

root@my-test-mach:~ # ping `hostname`
ping: cannot resolv my-test-mach: Host name lookup failure

This causes all local mail to fail, /var/spool/mqueue just fills up. periodic scripts therefore don't populate root's mail.

Solved by manually adding hostname to /etc/hosts
