On my Lenovo Thinkpad T490 system freezes while loading i915kms (both drm-devel-kmod and drm-current-kmod) from rc.conf as port's description suggested. This on latest 14.0-CURRENT. System boots normally when: - goes into single user mode, waits about 10 seconds and exit single user mode or -load i915kms from /boot/loader.conf instead kld_list in /etc/rc.conf or - boot when dock station with external monitor attached FreeBSD 14.0-CURRENT #12 main-n250238-dfd704b7fb2-dirty drm-devel-kmod-5.5.19.g20211013 from ports Thank you.
What's in /var/log/messages around the time of the freeze? If you refrain from using rc.conf or loader.conf to load the module, then does a freeze occur in response to this? kldload i915kms ---- (In reply to Oleksandr Kryvulia from comment #0) > drm-devel-kmod-5.5.19.g20211013 from ports Built and installed from ports source whilst running OS dfd704b7fb2, yes? ---- Reference: <https://cgit.freebsd.org/src/log/?qt=range&q=dfd704b7fb2> (2021-10-23)
(In reply to Graham Perrin from comment #1) > What's in /var/log/messages around the time of the freeze? Nothing, system freezes just after booting kernel and loading module > If you refrain from using rc.conf or loader.conf to load the module, then does a freeze occur in response to this? > > kldload i915kms module loads fine and system works. > Built and installed from ports source whilst running OS dfd704b7fb2, yes? Yes.
After updating port to 5.7.19.g20220126 this no longer observed.
