Description Oleksandr Kryvulia 2021-10-26 09:12:44 UTC
On my Lenovo Thinkpad T490 system freezes while loading i915kms (both drm-devel-kmod and drm-current-kmod) from rc.conf as port's description suggested. This on latest 14.0-CURRENT. System boots normally when:
- goes into single user mode, waits about 10 seconds and exit single user mode
or
-load i915kms from /boot/loader.conf instead kld_list in /etc/rc.conf
or
- boot when dock station with external monitor attached

FreeBSD 14.0-CURRENT #12 main-n250238-dfd704b7fb2-dirty
drm-devel-kmod-5.5.19.g20211013 from ports

Thank you.

What's in /var/log/messages around the time of the freeze?

If you refrain from using rc.conf or loader.conf to load the module, then does a freeze occur in response to this?

kldload i915kms

Built and installed from ports source whilst running OS dfd704b7fb2, yes?

Nothing, system freezes just after booting kernel and loading module

module loads fine and system works.

> Built and installed from ports source whilst running OS dfd704b7fb2, yes?
Yes.

After updating port to 5.7.19.g20220126 this no longer observed.
