Description GrabbenD 2023-03-07 10:43:58 UTC
FreeBSD 13.1-RELEASE is available in the AWS Marketplace for the old Graviton2 (ARM64) EC2 instances (e.g: t4g.small).

However, if you try to use a Graviton3 (ARM64) instance like the c7g.medium you get the following error:

> Instance launch failed
> The instance configuration for this AWS Marketplace product is not supported. Please see the AWS Marketplace site for more information about supported instance types, regions, and operating systems.

Currently available Graviton3 instance families are: c7g, m7g & r7g.

Relevant information for c7g from 2022:
- https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/aws/new-amazon-ec2-c7g-instances-powered-by-aws-graviton3-processors/

m7g and r7g (Graviton3) which launched this year:
- https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/instance-types/r7g/
- https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/aws/new-graviton3-based-general-purpose-m7g-and-memory-optimized-r7g-amazon-ec2-instances/

Support for Graviton3 instances would be highly appreciated!

CC cperciva, not sure off-hand if he's subscribed to -arm@.

I I've seen previous (private) reports of us running (or at least launching) on Graviton 3, so I wonder if something's funky with that particular image or if it's going to be a "soon in 13.2" thing.

The Marketplace is always slow to get updated. For now you can launch FreeBSD AMIs directly using the AMI IDs from the release announcement. I'll make sure the Marketplace is updated when we add 13.2.
