I get this error when running Steam.

/usr/local/bin/steam:75:in `<main>': undefined method `exists?' for File:Class (NoMethodError)

if not File.exists?(steam_root)
           ^^^^^^^^
Did you mean?  exist?

Version is 1 year old, newer version fixes issue.
