Years back, a nice job was done of moving all the install config questions to occur at once, so one could answer them all, then walk off & leave the new box installing. (Unliker other installers, where one has to sit in front, nursing the install through). That is now spoilt a little bit, by having the install then later ask, ~Install Linux emulator?~ & then waiting some more at screen for it to happen. It's just one more toggle question that could be moved up to be asked at beginning, & then run while one is Not sitting in front waiting for it to complete. (Yes I know there's ports too, but this is a bit different. I also know one can run the installer later multi user etc, but even so ... :-) Fix: Needs coding. How-To-Repeat: Install from [CD]

Hi Julian, Looking at the code, specifically install.c, the Linux question does indeed get asked at the same time as all the other questions (is this an NFS client, do you want ACPI disabled indefinitely, etc). This doesn't seem to have been changed any time recently either. Is this a problem with 6.x or a 7.0 snap? Ceri
Responsible Changed From-To: freebsd-bugs->kensmith I'll take this one...
Responsible Changed From-To: kensmith->brucec Grab. The question does get asked at the same time as other post-install questions, but the problem is that installing Linux support takes a long time and so should be asked before the base system is extracted.
State Changed From-To: open->suspended The question about installing Linux was removed in 8.0 so is unlikely to be fixed in older releases.
Responsible Changed From-To: brucec->freebsd-sysinstall Back to the pool.
sysinstall has been replaced by bsdinstall in FreeBSD 9.x. Closing.
