A screenshot from before the bug bit

I prefer:

Steps-Mono [UKWN], 12

Until recently, window title bars appeared as they should.

After temporarily experimenting with themes, then reverting to Steps-Mono [UKWN] for window titles, there's now a sans-serif font.

The applied preference is not effective.

I should mention this:

% pkg rquery -r FreeBSD %v fontconfig
2.13.93_1,1
% pkg lock -l
Currently locked packages:
fontconfig-2.13.93,1
% date ; uname -KUv
Sun 18 Jul 2021 11:30:45 BST
FreeBSD 14.0-CURRENT #100 main-n247798-f39dd6a9784: Thu Jul 8 07:38:23 BST 2021 root@mowa219-gjp4-8570p:/usr/obj/usr/src/amd64.amd64/sys/GENERIC-NODEBUG 1400025 1400025
%

– the lock of fontconfig is to work around ugly bug 257087

fontconfig is upgraded (no longer locked).

This bug persists.
Comment 4 Adriaan de Groot freebsd_committer freebsd_triage 2022-01-26 01:36:19 UTC
I needed to restart kwin (e.g. logout, log back in) with kwin 5.23.5 and fontconfig 2.13.94_1,1 after changing the window title fonts, but I did end up with steps-mono [UKWN].

Full steps I took:
- build steps-mono with poudriere
- pkg install steps-mono
- alt-f2, "fonts"
- change all my fonts to match the ones in your screenshot
- click apply, then ok
- notice window title has not changed
- logout, log in

In other words: can't reproduce.

(In reply to Adriaan de Groot from comment #4)

Thank you.

No longer reproducible here, the likeliest explanation was this:

QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=gtk2

Apologies for the noise.
