I see on https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-pkg-fallout/ that the mailing list freebsd-pkg-fallout is very busy, with 10k-20k emails per month. However, in the mail archive we stopped around Nov 2021 with storing emails. find -s ???? -name '*[0-9].freebsd-pkg-fallout.gz' -size +100c| tail -n3 2021/freebsd-pkg-fallout/20211031.freebsd-pkg-fallout.gz 2021/freebsd-pkg-fallout/20211107.freebsd-pkg-fallout.gz 2021/freebsd-pkg-fallout/20211114.freebsd-pkg-fallout.gz After that time, all archives are empty. Any idea whats wrong here?
This is on purpose. There is no archival value to this list.
(In reply to Philip Paeps from comment #1) The gzip'd mailarchive since 1994 is 12GB huge. 6.2GB (52%) are for the mailing list "freebsd-pkg-fallout" only, and 5.8GB (48%) for all other mailing lists. The uncompressed mailarchive is 90.5GB huge. 61.9GB (68.4%) are for the mailing list "freebsd-pkg-fallout" only, and 28.6GB (31.6%) for all other mailing lists. If archiving "freebsd-pkg-fallout" has no real value and given the huge size - should we remove the old files from the archive?
Yes. Those archives can go away. Thank you!
